Environment Working Group

The Parish Council created an Environment working group in 2021.  The group consists of volunteers who can initiate and take forward environmental projects in the Parish supported by the Parish Council.  The Group meets periodically.  Anyone who is interested in getting involved should contact the Parish Clerk in the first instance.

Chalk Streams

The Parish is home to the source of the River Mimram one of the rare chalk stream habitats which flow through Hertfordshire.

Wildlife and habitats

We are privileged to have some very special places in the parish providing homes to a number of interesting species such as swifts, Barbastelle bats, various species of owl, birds of prey such as red kite, sparrow hawk, and buzzard, hares and hedgehogs.  We are also fortunate to have a number of different habitat types which support a diverse population of garden birds, small mammals, insects and wild flowers.
